Product Overview
Gastrodin is the primary bioactive phenolic glycoside found in Gastrodia elata, known as Tian Ma in Chinese. Tian Ma has been used in traditional Chinese medicine for over 2,000 years, primarily for neurological conditions including headaches, dizziness, epilepsy, and limb numbness. Modern research has validated many of these traditional uses, identifying gastrodin as the key compound responsible for neuroprotective, anti-inflammatory, and cognitive-enhancing effects.
Sichuan province, particularly the western mountain regions around Ya'an and Ganzi, is the recognized geo-authentic source for premium Gastrodia elata. The cool, humid climate at elevations of 1,200-3,600 meters, combined with the unique symbiotic relationship between Gastrodia and its mycorrhizal fungus (Armillaria mellea), produces tubers with exceptionally high gastrodin content.
